The Roo-Sistence Fund
The Roo-Sistence Fund grew out of a group of fans on bigfooty.com deciding to pledge money to help the North Melbourne Football Club become even more competitive on the field in 2008.
When the threat of relocation to the Gold Coast hit us, the pledges became more urgent and offers of money started pouring in from North Melbourne supporters and other footy fans all over the world to help fight this threat.
Suddenly we had, not only tens of thousands of dollars in pledges, but the offer of a fantastic "Roo-Sistence - Keep North South" concert to raise money and lift the spirits of Shinboners everywhere. The Roo-Sistence Fund was a force to be reckoned with.
The idea is that through the generosity of footy fans everywhere, we raise substantial money, and then make it available to the NMFC - specifically to shore up the club's future as a Melbourne based club.
After discussions with people pledging money and with the club, we decided on these four options:
A - Buying equipment for the football department
B - Buying memberships to donate to supporters who can't afford them
C - Funding advertising to directly attack relocation and promoting membership
D - Funding a NMFC community program to benefit kids in our exclusive catchment area.
You can choose any or all of these options to give your money to, or you can leave it to us to decide. Some spending will happen now, the rest in 2008.
In the increasingly unlikely event the Board chooses relocation over the viable Melbourne plan on the table, we will not be giving a cent of Roo-Sistence money to a Gold Coast club. Instead the fund will be used to fight to reverse the decision, and launch an attack on the AFL, the likes of which have never been seen, using guerrilla media, direct mail and other methods.
To make a pledge, go to http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=390699 and post a message saying what amount you want to give. Alternately you can email us on roosistence@gmail.com and pledge the amount you would like. Then we'll give you details of how to transfer the money into our account using secure internet banking, at any St George Bank branch, or by cheque or money order , and you can tell us what you'd like your money to go towards.
Join hundreds of others by pledging a donation of whatever size you want to the Roo-Sistence Fund. It all helps, and you'll have made a difference in the biggest fight of our club's fighting history.
